Life Cycle: Annual or biennial

Description: The leaves are arranged alternately along the stem. The leaves are usually lobed and secrete a milky sap when crushed. Also, there are prickles located on the underside of the midrib as seen in this photo (top right). At maturity, the plant produces many small yellow flowers.
